QR Codes go mainstream

3 February 2010 33 views No Comment

QR codes have been around in Japan since 1994, but have only been used here in the States a lot recently.  With the rise of the Google Android platform more and more people are using these 2 dimensional codes to link to webpages or applications in the Android Marketplace.  A quick scan with a phone can load all types of information into a phone with ease.  Recently the Weather Channel has used a code during a television broadcast to advertise their app in the Android Marketplace.  I can easily see a future where these codes are on everything from magazine ads to TV commercials.  Video clip of the Weather Channel ad after the break.
