The Mira EV destroyed its own record for a car that traveled the farthest without a charge by traveling over 623 miles on a single charge last weekend.
The entire car is powered with 8,320 cylindrical lithium-ion batteries (laptop batteries by Sanyo), but had to drive rather slow to achieve this feat. It went a mere 30 miles an hour for most of the ride.
This speaks volumes for the potential of EVs in the future. A future free form fossil fuels and super cheap electric cars…

Uncle Sam just loaned Nissan $1.4 billion to retool a factory in Smyrna, Tennessee to start building its new all electric car, the Leaf. This little puppy is supposed to get 100 miles a charge and cost under $30,000.
