It is hard, sometimes, to realize that Adobe makes any product other than Flash, but yesterday they launched Adobe Reader for the Android platform. This ended up replacing a different app for me though. I had been using Aldiko for my ebook reading and it worked excellent, but had one major problem. All of the ebooks I have are in .pdf format and Aldiko only reads epub. Needless to say, I have been converting all of my pdf files to epub, with less then steller results.
As soon as I downloaded …

Mozilla has been working hard on the mobile version of Firefox for Android, code-named Fennec. There have already been several reviews of it here, here, and here, so I won’t be going into it. I just wanted to take this time out to talk about my concern over other browsers entering the Android market.
I love my Droid, I really do, and in general I like all of my Google products, but the browser in Android really rubs me the wrong way. It amazes me that the same company that produced …

This year the Pwn2own hacker competition is being held in Vancouver. They have alloted $40,000 for their web browser section with each browser worth $10,000. The four browsers will be Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome and Safari. Now, I think you could pretty much guess how they would fair, but the big shocker was Chrome. The other browsers were hacked in the first day, but Chrome wasn’t even attempted.
Day two is now over and, still, no one has attempted to topple Chrome. I am sure Google is just tickle pink right now.
Sandboxing …

Google released information today about getting into the ISP business today and will soon be rolling out service for between 50,000 and 500,000 Americans. They claim they will be offering a 1 gigabit connection which is over a hundred times faster than anything currently available today, and they claim they can do it at competitive prices. They even have a link so that you can nominate your town for testing purposes.
Here is a quote form Google..
We’re planning to build and test ultra high-speed broadband networks in a small number of …

Google’s announcement that came and went yesterday and I am not sure what tho think of it. That announcement came in the form of Google Buzz.
Google is getting in the social networking game in a big way, but instead of a centralized service it is a concept that seems to be getting integrated through out all of their current technologies. When you go to the Google Buzz website you are presented with a brief overview with a big button inviting you to try it in gmail. So, like any good …

Motorola has stated on their Facebook page that they would be deploying Android 2.1 to the device “this week”. I, for one, am ecstatic about this and it makes me feel better about hopping on the Droid bandwagon mere months before the Nexus One came out. TechCrunch is reporting that this update should include multi-touch and Google Goggles (which has potential, but is still pretty weak).
For one reason or another, there is none of the “pretty” updates in the package. There is no scrolling grid of apps or active wallpapers, …

Google’s Chrome OS is still more than half a year away from a full release, but being that the software is open source people have the opportunity to dig into the source and play around. Hexxeh has been compiling versions of the OS for a little while now, but he just recently release a version that can update itself. Thats pretty huge since it is kind of a pain to keep burning a new image each time. If you are curious what all the fuss is about you can download …

Say it with me “$30 a month for 3G with no contract.” Let that soak in for a while. Most people don’t think too far past surfing the iPad for that thought, but I see a whole new shift in telecommunications. Imagine if you will, a cellphone that can’t connect to any voice service, but could connect to Google Voice. With Google’s acquisition of Gizmo5, Google is in a prime position to become a true voip application. Now, this in itself is not that spectacular, but when coupled with the 3G …

Google never ceases to amaze me as a company. I wouldn’t go as far as to say they are infallible (Orkut?!), but when they really set their eye on the prize they come out swinging. So it should come as no surprise to anyone that Google will ultimately come out with a tablet PC of some form or fashion. Well, last night on the Chromium Projects site these photos were posted. Even though Chromium is not Google, these renders were put together by Glen Murphy. The same Glen Murphy who happens to be …

Google’s Nexus One is heading for AT&T and I am very curious as to how it will do. You see, I don’t really have any inherent problem with the iPhone, but I don’t believe that Google’s latest attempt will be enough to make iPhone suers jump ship. Everyone I know that has an iPhone has nothing but excellent things to say about their phone…its AT&T that they will bash, unforgivingly, into the ground. So with all of this great iPhone , word-of-mouth advertising going on, and common hate for “Ma Bell”, I …
